A Master Owner is someone who owns the recording of a song.

If you have created the recording of a song in your own studio, you are by default, the Master Owner. Generally, if you have recorded the song at a professional studio or with a producer and have paid for the service, you own the recordings and are the Master Owner.

If you were to sign a record deal with a record label, the record label would generally become the Master Owner.

Types of Master Owners:

  • Individual as Creator refers to a recording of a song that you have created

  • Record Labels typically are in the business of owning master recordings

Please Note:

  • Songtradr only pays those users who are listed as Control parties

  • The percentages must add up to 100% each (Master & Copyright Ownerships)
